Have you ever wished there was a better way to choose your airline seats? Tired of having the unpleasant surprise of finding your seat is right across from the lavatory? Or booked a window seat with a view, only to find out your window’s only view is of an airplane wing?
Then you need SeatGuru by Trip Advisor!
What is SeatGuru? SeatGuru is a flight booking tool designed to help you pinpoint the optimal in-flight seat before you book, as well as after you book. With seat advice for over 700 different airplane seatmaps representing over 100 airlines, the odds are your seats will be at SeatGuru.
What type of in-flight seat information does SeatGuru provide? Most everything you need to help you choose the optimal seats for your next flight. Details found in a SeatGuru seatmap query include:
- Detailed seatmap graphics.
- Color-coded seatmap key to quickly identify optimal seat choices.
- Detailed specific seat information including limitations in seat recline, amount of legroom, or misaligned windows.
- In-seat power port locations.
- Gallery, lavatory, closet, and exit row locations.
How does it work? It’s quite easy. Either use the drop-down menu on the left side of the home page, or type in your desired flight in the “Find the Seatmap for Your Flight” box.
Then click Go. Up pops a complete listing of airplane details including the airplane seatmap and a Seatmap Key for your chosen flight. That’s it! Now it’s up to you to decide where you would like to sit.
How do you find the optimal seat? Start by placing your cursor over a particular seat. A pop-up window provides specific details about that seat. For example, based on the seatmap for Delta Flight #1089, you might want to avoid rows 19 and 25. Several row 19 seats have extra legroom, but they come at a price – no underseat storage and very close to the lavatory. Hmm, sit near the lavatory with the possibility of lingering lavatory lines and possible odors? These seats also have the table tray and TV screen stuffed into the armrest, meaning less seat width. Good to know, especially if you are angling for a front row seat or more leg room. I don’t know about you, but this particular flight is six hours. Not sure the extra legroom would be worth choosing row 19!
Not much else to it. With just a few clicks, you are “in the know” of which seat might be the better choice. No more getting stuck sitting in the lavatory line! SeatGuru can help you avoid a lavatory view, or decide whether or not the extra leg room is worth it.
Other handy SeatGuru features: SeatGuru offers so much more than just seat selection. You can also book a flight or hotel, determine in-flight amenities, even find baggage restrictions. No more hassling with complex airline sites when all your flight details are gathered in one location. It’s like one-stop airplane shopping!
Here’s a few more details about these other handy SeatGuru features.
In-Flight Amenities: Decide before you fly if you need to download an extra movie, bring headphones for in-flight entertainment, or pack an extra bag of food for lunch. How? Start by locating the In-Flight Amenities list, just above the airplane seat map. Then scroll over the Amenities Icon that you want to know more about. Below the icon will be the specific services offered on this flight. For example, on Delta Flight 1089, Internet access is available starting at $4.95. You can register in advance with GogoAir.com, and be all plugged in and ready to go once at cruising altitude!
Flight, Hotel, Vacation, Car Rental Searches: Now that you know what seat you prefer, go on and book your flight with SeatGuru’s newest addition, “Find Cheap Flights!” powered by Trip Advisor. Pick your destination, click go, and the power of Trip Advisor comes back with the best options for your selection.
General Airline Information: Need to know about checked baggage and how much it will cost you? Want to bring Fifi or Fido along, but need to know which airline has the best options? SeatGuru has that information too. On the left side of the website, pick the airline you are traveling with. Then click on the “General Information” link and bam! There it is. All you need to know to pack Fifi onto the airplane!
Need SeatGuru on the go? There’s an app for that! Earlier in March, TripAdvisor launched SeatGuru By TripAdvisor App for the iPhone and iPod Touch. And what a powerful app this is! Not only do you get the SeatMap Advice and Search for Flights features from SeatGuru.com, you also get up to the minute Flight Status information. Perfect for keeping you on top of when your fight leaves. Or isn’t leaving! But if that does happen, this handy app can help you find a seat on the next flight out of town.
The newly launched SeatGuru app already has over 100 reviews, and a 4.5+ star rating. That’s a whole lotta luv in a short time!
