From chocolate for your taste buds, to chocolate for your body, chocolate is just plain good for your soul. What’s that? You’re not convinced about the merits of a chocolaty indulgent vacation? Well, my friends, then this is one sweet read you gotta finish!
For The Love of Chocolate
Did you know that our love for chocolate dates as far back as 1900 BC, where evidence of chocolate beverages was found in several ancient Mesoamerican archeological sites? Chocolate was initially served as a beverage in this ancient culture. It was thought to give the drinker strength and aphrodisiac powers. Wow! Now that’s a very long love story.
The Aztecs of Central America thought that cacao seeds were a gift from their god of wisdom, Quetzalcoatl. In fact, cacao seeds were so valuable that the Aztecs used them as a form of currency! Eventually this oh-so-popular drink made it’s way beyond Mesoamerica, landing in Europe in the 16th century. They too continued this long-standing chocolate love affair.
These days, chocolate is such a staple in every day life, it’s hard to imagine that it was once such a coveted and valuable commodity, worthy enough to be considered currency. And we chocoholics are certainly thankful for that!
But what about a vacation planned around one’s love for chocolate? Have you ever thought of that? Maybe you should!
